On 6th July 2013, Alan Turner, Managing Director of Joinerysoft took part in the La Marmotte race for local appeal Go Johnny Go. Taking over 10 hours to complete, covering 110 miles and 5000 metres of climbing the race encompasses the four mountains Col Du Glandon, Col Du Galiber, Telegraphe and Alpe D’Huez in the French Alps. Even with 9 months intensive training behind him Alan describes the race as, “the toughest challenge I’ve ever done in my life. La Marmotte is considered to be one of the hardest and most dangerous of amateur rides anywhere in the world. To have completed it is a real achievement.”
Go Johnny Go fundraising provides powered wheelchairs for children with disabilities. The appeal has already raised over £30,000 to purchase a powered wheelchair for John, the starting point for Go Johnny Go. A 9 year old lad with Muscular Dystrophy his chair has enabled him to continue to play with his friends and live life as any other 9 year old child. The fundraising team, supported by Joinerysoft, plan to continue to raise money to help families purchase life-changing chairs that will enhance the lives of children like John, not confine and limit their horizons.
